The Rainbow Warrior vessel designed for Greenpeace arrived yesterday at the port of Mazatlan, Sinaloa with environmental purposes.
With a crew of 17 people, the sailboat Rainbow Warrior will remain on the docks of ferries until January 9 allowing access to the general public, where the assistants will have the opportunity to tour the boat and learn alternative ways of obtaining sustainable electricity through solar cells, ecological kitchens and organic foods.
During their stay in Mazatlan, the crew of the sailboat Rainbow Warrior, in addition to completely free activities for sustainability, will stimulate the campaign against GM corn (transgenic maize seed) because as noted Silvia Diaz, Campaign Coordinator Sustainable Agriculture and Transgenics Greenpeace, is critical to prevent the state of Sinaloa this type of products is cultivated to commercial scales.
The vessel Greenpeace’s Rainbow Warrior is currently sailing in 70% with sails and the rest with an electric motor, has water treater plant and is built with nature friendly materials.
