The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico (Sectur) through its secretary Miguel Torruco Marques announced the upcoming inauguration of the Great Aquarium Mazatlan Sea of Cortez, which will become the largest in Latin America and will mark a before and after for the Pearl of the Pacific.
The Great Aquarium Mazatlan Sea of Cortez is built on an area of 50,000 square meters: 26,000 in its first stage (spring 2023), and 24,000 in its second stage (autumn 2024).
With an investment of 1,800 million pesos during your visit you will appreciate 4.7 million liters of water in display tanks in the first stage, and 200 million in its great lake. The main building will have 19 rooms and 4 interior courtyards for exhibition; while outside there will be 3 rooms and a botanical garden for the same purpose. In addition to the exhibitions, work will be done on 4 programs and 30 lines of research, in favor of conservation, and the main exhibit will be the Great Ocean Tank, which will have a 13-meter-base by 7-meter-high window. During its first year, an approximate influx of 900,000 visitors is expected.
In this way, Mazatlan will consolidate as an international tourist destination, with growing alternatives for fun, learning, culture and contact with nature.
