World Largest Shrimp Cocktail in Mazatlan

With the presence of the Governor of the State of Sinaloa, Mario López Valdez; the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Gloria Guevara Manzo; the Ministry of Tourism of Sinaloa, Oralia Rice Rodríguez; the Municipal President of Mazatlan, Alejandro Higuera; the President of the Association of Hotels and Motels Three Islands, Jose Ramón Manguart; the Certifier, Mike Janela; businessmen, hotel managers and hundreds of persons gathered in the Mazatlan International Center; last September 27th, 2011, in the frame of the World Tourism Day, Mazatlan reached the Record Guinness for making the Worlds Largest Shrimp Cocktail with over 400 kilos of weight over the previous mark.

The idea of "Coctelazo 2011" was born thanks to the two more important economic activities of the port: the fishing and the tourism, and with this new record seeks to position Mazatlan as the shrimp world’s capital, exalting the gastronomy of our state.

Hotel Playa Mazatlan feels proud to have taken part as host in the preparation of the "Coctelazo" under strict hygiene and quality standards specified in the Distinctive "H", recognition that the hotel has maintained for 16 years.

The Governor stressed that with this new record not only will the name of Mazatlan be in the eyes of the world as a favorable tourist destination, but everyone's palate as well.
